The problem with practical effects is although they look good, they don't move good. Why do you think the fight scenes in IM were so basic? They'd never be able to pull off Ironman's fights against Thor or Thanos without heavy cgi.
Look at the difference between how Kurse moves compared to Thanos and Hulk and how Kurse's fight with Thor is one of the worst choreographed fights in the MCU.
