I never saw that, but this time it is cheerleading. Whatever works for her and the audience it finds. I do find Keaton is a very radiant being, even if her later films are sappy.
The point of Book Club was more to show that contrary to popular belief, female senior citizens can still possess romantic interests and sexual desire (oh, and to attract an older niche audience that would remember and appreciate the actresses). Thus that movie—which pretty much defined mediocrity and formula in filmmaking—did not quite serve the interests of "girl power."
