None. What's done is done. You're not wrong. Rewarding choices based somewhat, if not a majority, on how films have aged is not the point of the Oscars, at all whatsoever. That said, it was crystal clear at the time that Brokeback Mountain was easily superior to Crash, & the Academy was too cowardly to acknowledge homosexuality as a standard bearer of their precious trophies.
