it was crystal clear at the time that Brokeback Mountain was easily superior to Crash, & the Academy was too cowardly to acknowledge homosexuality as a standard bearer of their precious trophies. But if that was true, how did B.M. won in 3 categories (including arguably the 2nd most important one)? And how did it get a Best Picture nomination, which is already a big honor? CAPOTE and TRANSAMERICA were also among the nominees that year.
