Are the women’s leagues subsidized by the men’s leagues the same way the WNBA is subsidized by the NBA?
People who market women’s sports should look to the UFC and the incredible interest around fighters like Ronda Rousey (who used her popularity to get an easier high profile entertainment gig), Cyborg Santos, Amanda Nunez, and former fighters like Miesha Tate and Gina Carano.
The UFC actually has women headlining mixed cards and competing for the same prize pool (knockout of the night, fight of the night bonuses) as the men, which is a level of equality I haven’t seen in any other sport.
