I figured but it's so odd considering ticket prices are higher than 10 years ago & EndGame is in 3D which means a surcharge, and also in Imax which is a 20+ dollar ticket. I don't remember exactly, but weren't all of the Avatar showings 3-D? Only some of the showing of Endgame are in 3-D. I mean it wasn't sold as a 3-D event. Only one of the 4 screens showing Endgame was 3-D at my cinema. They had 2D versions. Cameron was just promoting the 3D only, just like Jackson promoted the HFR Hobbit movies and Endgame is heavily promoting IMAX. Most of the showings of Endgame in my town were 3D too although they are the first to go after the first week or two. Regardless, if Endgame beats Avatar box office, it doesn't mean more people saw it which is what should measure a movie's popularity
