Psycho II (1983)
I bet there were a lot of people who thought it could never be pulled off, but Psycho II turned out to be a very worthy sequel to Hitchcock's 1960 classic. Occasionally tongue-in-cheek, sometimes an homage, but always an engrossing whodunit with some clever twists and turns. Keeps you guessing right to the end.
And in a nod to the recent slasher craze at the time, it briefly plays on the "if you're a teenager who smokes pot and has promiscuous sex, you're gonna die" motif.
