I always thought it seemed a little odd to Criterion versions of movies like "The Brood" - which I thought was a terrible film, with no redeeming qualities, except, the memorably gross finale - and "Fiend Without a Face", which I never saw, but looked pretty awful to me. What would be the point of this? To keep Criterion from seeming too high brow? What exactly is the criteria for Criterion? Sorry you didn't like The Brood. Personally I think it's one of David Cronenberg's best. It seems like Criterion and Cronenberg have a solid relationship, as they've released some of his other films. Yes, The Brood is quite a solid and dark psychological horror film with an interesting theme about traumatic manifestations. Very original for its time and also a tad disturbing, so it does get its point across.
