Eoin Morgan - he will be the last of his kind TBH. The hoops he jumped through just to play for England, just as Ireland was becoming a genuine international side, won’t happen again. He is now more or less contractually obligated to play for England. However, if needed, I reckon he will do a Ed Joyce or Boyd Rankin and play for Ireland once England has had enough of him. Where this space is Interesting though is the process of qualifying for both England and Ireland was made much more concrete prior to Ireland’s ascension into the Test arena. England (as only England could) was terrified that a young up and comer with an Irish grandpa would be snaffled by Ireland because they could afford to give the youngster a go before England had a position in their team, despite being weaned through the county system for years. Like a lot of things in cricket, the hypocrisy is astounding. England had no qualms in playing half of county cricket in the 80’s and 90’s against Australia searching for answers, nor having half of their side coming from South Africa or the West Indies. I think at one stage they literally had 4 actual Englishmen in the side, the other 8 were foreigners.
