Godzilla (2014) is just a badly written movie. They may have tried to write good human characters, but they failed miserably imo. Why they killed off Bryan Cranston's character so early in the movie is a mystery to me.

Me too. It took half an hour to sink in the Bryan Cranston's character died. I picked it up later on the re watch but I didn't notice it at the time for what it was because of how little sense it made.
