If your looking at the overall movie and you truly consider it boring but are still scoring it a 5/10 (which is middle-of-the-road/average for those using the rating scale fairly evenly) then you got a flawed rating system (no offense, but it would be hard to argue against me here).
I think that's especially true if you agree with me in that interesting/entertaining is what a movie should be and that boring is pretty much the opposite of that. but if you disagree with me here, we would not be on the same page on a very basic core point with movies in general.
NOTE: I could understand if you find bits and pieces potentially boring in say a average (5/10) level movie but at this point I would not really consider those movies to be boring OVERALL. hence, I would not label a movie as boring I score a 5/10 as that's simply too high of a score for something where the word 'boring' left a strong impression on you in regards to the overall movie.
so I guess my core point is... when I use the word 'boring' in relation to a movie I tend to refer to the overall movie is outright boring, not just partially or partially dull and the like. if you disagree on this core point that puts us at disagreement with the word 'boring' in general even though I could not fault someone for potentially using the boring word to some degree if a movie is going into that below average/dull status etc.
I disagree because splitting hairs is nitpicking more in that very fine detail of which I am NOT doing. hence, I am not 'splitting hairs'.
I am simply using the rating scale more properly is all and I look at the overall movie as I am not going to call a movie 'boring' that was 'average' overall. it just don't make much sense.
because say you see 'Movie A' and your overall impression of it is 'boring' but yet you score it a 5/10. that makes no sense in my mind since a 5/10 is basically a average score for the overall movie and anything truly boring, as in your interest in it is pretty much zero for any length of time, should have much lower score than that.
I don't doubt that you know what boredom feels like. it's just when you label a movie as boring overall, a 5/10 should not happen otherwise your rating system is flawed since 5/10 tells those who see your score of the movie that the movie was pretty average OVERALL. hence, no where near truly boring.
surely, you can see why I say this, right?
There are movies I rate 5.5/10 that I consider boring. They just aren't mind-numbingly boring. Like I said, there are levels to consider.
That still qualifies as boring.

OP didn't say the critics said Ninja Assassin was the most boring movie ever made. Relatively boring is still boring. You are splitting hairs.

I know what boredom feels like, so it feels like you telling me what I consider boring and not boring. If I tell you that I think some movies I rate 5/10 are boring, than you just have to take my word on it.
