Maybe. The casting was diverse though overall and the biggest issue would be yet another white guy coming to the aid of natives. I think Avatar flopped that a little but in the end Jake still arrived to rescue them like the second coming of Jesus. Actually, I thought the opposite. I thought they made the White, Straight, 'Merica, Hooo-Rah! Marine the idiot. The tribal/ethnic people saved him. He was living life with his eyes closed, ignorant to the ways of the universe and spiritual life. That isn’t really the opposite of what I said. Most white heroes learn something from the natives they save but their knowledge of the natives enemies give them a distinct advantage. In Avatar they changed it up a bit because he wasn’t really the one who saved the day. it was the planet although he may have been so awesome that he was the one to inspire the planet. Plus he was saved by the damsel in distress...twice. Still it did take him to motivate the masses to fight.
