"Captive" (2015) is very good.
"Split" (the Shymalan film of 2017) is also mostly very good.
-"The River Wild" (1994) isn't the typical hostage movie, but I remember being surprised about how that element played so well in a different sort of setting. It seems like a lot of people never saw it or forgot about it, which is a shame. Quite a good movie.
"Leprechaun 2" (sometime in the 90s) which isn't so good, but the hostage subplot is hilariously weird.
Does "Going Overboard" (1989) fit in here?
