what our Irn Bru love affair tells us about modern Scotland

First time I heard about it was when I was on a tour from Edinburgh to Isle of Skye. Our guide/bus driver couldn't keep his praise for the drink. He would mention it every day. I think I was more impressed by his narration of the story of Bonnie Prince Charlie than about constantly hearing praise for Irn Brue. I have always hated Red Bull (which I only tasted once and concluded that it tastes like cough syrup) and my opinion of Irn Brue was not much different. I did love Haggis though!
