It was held on two consecutive years in 2015 and 2016 but that was for a special occasion - the Centennial edition in 2016. Before that it was every four years for some time, and before that every two years, which may seem like a lot but when you take into account that there isn't a qualification process, it probably meant fewer games than the quadrennial European championship.
