Sounds daft, why this and not just alternate earths in the multiverse, why does Shaw have to be a time traveller? Also so who causes the changes from the future seen in DOFP by Logan as the happy ending to the future Apocalypse & Dark Phoenix set up?
Also shouldn't massive changes have more massive changes to things, like how is it Scott, Nightcrawler, Jean, Storm, Bobby, Rogue and Colossus's all still be who they are and have their exact same powers? as we see with Scott & Havoc the DNA of 2 parents don't create the exact same mutations for all offspring, similar yes but not the same, though atleast Kitty's powers being different would be explained a bit.
Multiverse works better than multiple timelines, especially when you seemingly pulled who is a time traveller out of thin air, if it's a time traveller it wouldn't need to be someone important to the films, Shaw could have simply bumped into a time traveller at some point, that slowed him down for 2 seconds, which meant that a pidgeon that originally missed him actually shit on his shoulder which also slowed him down for a few more seconds and caused him to bump into some thug who started a fight, the chaos ensued from said fight slowed him down even further and a key moment in his life fails to happen and therfor in one timeline we get First Class and in another we don't.
