Just like Catholicism is a 'failure' and has treated people 'awfully', so therefore, the hidden irony is, that your divorce analogy does make some kind of sense. It would be lost on you though, due to hypocrisy. Catholicism is not a failure. It exists right to this very day, no matter what happens. For whom does it exist for? And yes, it fails in its beliefs, because it can't prove them.
