Just playing devil's advocate, but what if I said it's a bit disheartening that people cling to it, and that there are so many great films like Guardians, and Civil War, and Winter Soldier, that maybe Avengers isn't actually the best film.
All I'm saying is, it's ok that the they've been able to do better. Hell if Avengers was the middle of the pack it would just mean the entire MCU is all that much better.
As a film The Avengers is extremely tight, very little fat, it is very well paced, and I think it holds up after multiple rewatches. Like I wrote somewhere else, GOTG was great in theaters, but after second viewing at home it was far less compelling, I've seen the Avengers......a lot, even years after its release and it doesn't really waver. TBH, I find GOTG to get better and better with repeat viewings. And just to clarify, nobody is saying Avengers isn't a great film. It obviously is. If it's truly your favorite or you find it to be the best, then that's great. I honestly can't argue that. I'm just saying, it shouldn't surprise you that there are so many great films in the MCU that Avengers may not be the crowning achievement any longer.
