They did. They were: Stoned, Stabbed with a sword, Crucified, Beheaded by a sword, Boiled in hot oil, Thrown from the top of the temple & beaten with a club, Shot with a bow & arrow, Killed with an axe, Etc. Many humans throughout the ages were treated inhumanly by their fellow man and still are, so what is your point? These people were killed for giving testimony that they saw the Risen Jesus, and that He Is Lord. They could have been spared all of this, by backtracking on their witness.
