(lifted from the Politics Board) www.theguardian.com/film/2019/jun/14/michael-caine-best-films-rankedI find him great entertainment value. Three that I like but which are not listed : Going In Style (2017) with Caine as an aged bank robber alongside co-robbers Morgan Freeman and Alan Arkin delivered exactly what it said on the tin. A feel-good humorous romp co-starring Matt Dillon, Christopher Lloyd and Ann Margaret. The on-screen chemistry between the three of them is so enjoyable. www.imdb.com/title/tt2568862/ Stonehearst Asylum (2014) is a bit of a slow burner for the first 45 or so and it's Ben Kingsley's 'lunatic' performance that is best about this film, but Caine contributes well with his portrayal of Dr Salt. A film with a good cast and a few twists along the way. Also starring Kate Beckinsale and Brenden Gleeson. www.imdb.com/title/tt1772264/?ref_=nv_sr_1?ref_=nv_sr_1 Deathtrap (1982) is one of my firm favourites where he plays a washed-up Broadway playwright with devious plans for his wife (the marvellously manic Dyan Cannon) and a younger unknown playwright, Christopher Reeve. Hugely enjoyable. www.imdb.com/title/tt0083806/?ref_=nv_sr_1?ref_=nv_sr_1 Of those listed which I've seen and enjoyed, I'd go a personal top ten of : Get Carter Zulu The Man Who Would Be King Harry Brown Little Voice (super stuff from Jane Horrocks - Caine's reaction to her sudden impression of Dorothy in Oz is ace!) Dressed To Kill The Italian Job The Prestige Alfie The Ipcress File X, Y and Zee (terribly under-rated movie. I don't think too many people even know about it. Contains Elizabeth Taylor's best performance she ever gave... Too much fun) Dressed to Kill Hannah and Her Sisters Sleuth (1972 version, thank you very much!) Educating Rita The Swarm Beyond the Poseidon Adventure (two disaster movies from the late 70s! what are you going to do?) Miss Congeniality Little Voice Death Trap dishonorable mention: Jaws 4: The Revenge -- this time it's personal! Yeah, right. I am so sure!
