Nah, I got Sake Fest in NYC today! Just looked, it’s sold out. Oh well, I literally just got back from Tokyo a few days ago and had the real thing. Yanks-Astros again tonight. Yanks have put together a nice streak again. What’s up with Altuve? Age or just a slow start? At some point within the next 12 months, I’ll head to Japan with the Mrs. Can’t wait, traveling is all I want in life and my rough itinerary is Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto, with perhaps a couple detours on the way, over the course of 2 weeks. Anything in particular serve as a can’t miss? Was it work or vacation? Last night was my first time going to this sake fest and I have to say, it was awesome. They had some incredible selections, with hundreds of Junmai Daiginjo options to choose from, which are my fave (as well as most people, I believe). It was predominantly cold sake, which I greatly prefer but they had a few stations with hot and they were tasty, just not my favorite. The food was mostly great, with a few duds. Morimoto was serving various ceviches with a spritz of dashi broth served in an edible rice cracker saucer thing, I must have had 15 of them. Ssam Bar was serving hot chicken, and Long Tong Noodle Shop had cold sesame noodles with grilled shrimp that were A+. If you’re a sake fan, definitely go next year, it’s the best $95 you can spend.
