Milius and Stone did their job for Left political advertising (Stone pushed the "rightwingers killed Kennedy" myth while Milius is not really a true rightwinger-he's much opposed to traditional European rightwing policies, the "Revilo Oliver,Enoch Powell" type worldview--both of them being Classical academics, their philosophy was much closer to the social mechanics behind Robert E Howard adventure stores than anything in a Milius film) --but the Hollywood political sphere moved beyond them.
