I don't understand the general reaction to this story. I don't understand how anyone would side with the spoiled rich athlete. If he was a responsible adult, he wouldn't have missed his flight and been stuck with an economy ticket as the only remaining option.
I don't give a shit if Newton is a spoiled athlete. His $1,500 is just as good as any other athlete's $1,500.
And I don't see it as siding with Newton. I see it as an opportunity to make an easy $1,500.

The coverage of this story is overwhelmingly on the side of Newton. It has gone so far as to out right claim racism is the reason the passenger didn't take the money.
It may be hard for you or others to understand but money doesn't motivate everyone. You're not going to get me to voluntarily put myself in a miserable or uncomfortable situation for money.
