Not sure where you are getting your news. I haven't seen this 'overwhelming' siding with anyone. I've just seen the story reported and then people asking the question of what one would do in the same situation.
It's not like he assaulted someone or anyone got into a fight. He made an offer and it was declined. That's really the end of the story.
