This is fair, the only thing I'd add is that the comfort level of seats on international flights can vary greatly. I've flown coach to Paris and it was like being squeezed into a can, but when I flew to Cape Town, you couldn't have asked for a more comfortable and roomier coach seat. Within the US, I can suck it up but if I'm traveling internationally, I'm keeping my seat unless it's like how it was for CapeTown. I'm a brat! I'm in first class, however, and Cam Newton (or anybody) wants my seat, the starting point is the cost of the seat plus $5k, otherwise fuck you. In recent years, I've flown business class multiple times for longer trips and I've had a handful of people ask me to switch and only offer me the cost of the seat. Sorry pal. Again, if I'm flying to Atlanta and you want it, we can talk, otherwise it's not happening. True. My flight on Virgin Australia on the way there was very comfortable, the way back on Delta was much less so. And it's all relative to the situation I'm in, as I said. But for some people that more comfortable seat is a huge priority. They're willing to spend a substantial cost for more, and I understand that. It's just hard for me to view that as being worth it... Now if I was on the second of three flights home and on 2 hours sleep and coming off of an already uncomfortable flight and in a bad mood, I very well might be in a less agreeable state of mind if asked to switch with someone. But in general, I imagine I'd be ok profiting on the deal and putting more resources into the actual trip. But again, that's me. If I had Cam Newton's contract I might be more willing to pay for the first class seat.
