Chief Noc-a-Homa! He had a tepee in the outfield in the old Fulton County /stadium and he would do a war dance every time a Brave would knock a homer (get it now?). The team took his tepee down in 1982 to sell more seats and the Braves lost nearly every game until the Chief's pad went back up. The Braves even hooked him up with a woman, Princess Win-a-Lotta. Mother of God, how hot would it have been inside that plastic helmet in Atlanta in August?
i took in a braves day game in july a couple years ago when i was flying though atl and had a layover. behind home. direct sun. no shade. i had to go stand in the concourse ever 2 innings at least to cool down. was roasted. hottest i had ever been at a sporting event and i used to go to o's games in the summer all the time in the daytime. Braves games can be ROUGH in the middle of summer if one isn't prepared. My first time going to a game I sat out in the direct sunlight sweating my ass off for 4 hours or so. Ended up with the worst sun burn I've ever had. (I hadn't used any sunscreen) I literally couldn't bend my arms or touch anything without being in horrible pain. We made sure to get seats in the shade every time after that.
