Newlywed city slickers Betty and Bob McDonald (Claudette Colbert Fred MacMurray) have moved to the backwoods for a change of life in the delightful romantic comedy The Egg and I (1947). They are given plenty of neighbourly advice from the eccentric country folk the Kettles a family of fifteen. Ma offers sound advice while never having done a hard days work in his life Pa Kettle (Percy Kilbride) is always full of ideas and borrows as much resouces as he can from easy going neighbour Bob. So popular were the bumpkin neighbours that they headlined in their own Ma and Pa Kettle Kettle series of B pictures, which ran until the mid 50s.
