This chap had the sort of neighbours I'd like....although I could do without all the visitors he had to his flat....

Dr & Mrs Dreyfus: Useful in a crisis, medically qualified, generous with chicken soup and moral guidance, not too keen on "swingers" but who will invite me to parties with a guest list including "two brain surgeons, an ear nose and throat specialist, a proctologist and three nurses from Bellevue".... my kind of people...  
Jack Lemmon, Shirley MacLaine ,Jack Kruschen & Naomi Stevens in Billy Wilder's sublime THE APARTMENT - as well as setting the gold standard for cinematic neighbourliness, it is an object lesson in effectively balancing the comedic and the dramatic, and in treating its audience as adults.
