Its probably dry where you live. Its humid here. Humidity amplifies the temperature.

We have people from Colorado visit here (Colorado is dry). They say, "40 degrees feels a lot colder here than in Colorado." That's because of the humidity.

It may only get to the 40s down here (up here from Australia). But with the high humidity it feels a lot colder.
