Probably none of the above. I don't partake and have no idea why anyone would want to. Because people like competition? Because people like building things? Because people like gambling? Because people like staying connected to old friends somehow while they all move away from each other and nearly grow apart? That's honestly one of my biggest arguments for it. It can be a big way of staying connected to a group of friends who you may RARELY see anymore.
