He could have been three years younger and now two years older than everyone else - or he could have been five yours younger and now the same age as everyone else, only appearing to be even older.
We don't know either if the Europe trip was exclusively for students in Peter's grade, or if it was open to other grades. Maybe the Asian kid was now a senior while the others were sophomores.
