He was probably about 11 before the blip (not a toddler for goodness sake). Now he is about 16 like the others ans thus in the same class as them. Does the actor look a little too old? Yes but isn't that a chronic issue with teenage characters in movies?
I found the Asian guy a bit confusing at first too. He definitely looked older than the others. If he was supposed to be in the same year as Peter Parker, Ned, MJ and Flash now, it means he would have been five years younger and presumably five grades behind them before they disappeared. Do high schoolers even know anybody five grades behind them? Do they even go to the same school?
He was probably somebodies little brother, that's how they knew him. Maybe he was 5 years behind them and just looks old for his age (like Flash Thompson in Spider-Man 2002) or maybe he was 4 years behind them and it just took a year to get the school system fully operational after half the population disappeared so he is now a year behind. Regardless there are plenty of possible scenarios so the matter does not come anywhere near the level of a plot hole.
