He was probably somebodies little brother, that's how they knew him. Maybe he was 5 years behind them and just looks old for his age (like Flash Thompson in Spider-Man 2002) or maybe he was 4 years behind them and it just took a year to get the school system fully operational after half the population disappeared so he is now a year behind. Regardless there are plenty of possible scenarios so the matter does not come anywhere near the level of a plot hole.

maybe his dad is a plastic surgeon.

maybe his mom works for vogue magazine.

mAYBE he was actually blipped but was such a douche he aged anyways.

what do all three of the above have in common? they all sound like shit that was pulled out of someone's ass. you might ask, how can shit sound like anything? it smells, it looks a certain way, but it makes no sound. nonetheless, this sounds like shit out of your ass. only someone like you could accomplish this.

and yes it's a plot hole. it couldn't be anything else.
