I don't know how I feel about this. I actually like Natalie Portman as long as she's put in a meaty role where she has a chance to shine. When she's given little, she also has little charisma to make it work. In short, she's pretty bland when made a side character but can shine as the main character. I also thought the female Thor arc in the comics was a bit interesting. Not as interesting as male Thor but still better than some of the other more *woke* versions of characters like Asian Hulk or teenage girl Ironman.
So I would have actually looked forward to female Thor in the MCU... IF male Thor had already been done well and maximized. As it is, Thor was given a slow, meandering start and only came to his potential in Ragnarok, then he immediately started sliding back down and had his legs cut under him in Endgame.
So while I like the idea of female Thor, right now I want a King Thor arc more. I want Thor to redeem himself, become the ultimate badass that he's supposed to be, finally accept the responsibility he's been shirking off these last 10 years then finally go out with a bang and pass the torch.
