I worked with a 17yr old who's gf was in her mid 20's and had a kid from a previous relationship. People understandably did pass a few comments and I didn't really like him and thought he was douchy. He ended up knocking her up, but they did get married. If it was the other way round, societal hypocritical double standards would have been more biased against an older male with a late teen girl or guy.

my husband is 7 years younger than I am, and not once did we feel like our relationship is inappropriate or had anyone comment something negative about it. and we have been together for a long time. its all about the motivation and maturity of both parties.

My mother was 15 when she first met my dad and he was 21. She was 18 when she married just going on 19. My father was welcomed into my parents fold and the age gap wouldn't have even been brought up into contention. It was usual and normal for the guy to be older then and my mother had left school and was working.
