I believe only four other nations are divided into states: Brazil India Mexico Germany All are modeled on the United States. Brazil and Mexico because they wanted to be like the United States, and India because they wanted to assert their independence from the British model. Whereas the first three are vast countries and naturals for that model, it was imposed onto Germany during the post WWII Allied occupation. They seem to have made the best of it, though. Argentina, Austria, Malaysia, Nigeria, and Venezuela are also all divided into states, London. There are a few others if I'm remembering correctly. Argentina now has provinces, not states, but you are right about the others. I made a real hash of that post! It is ridiculous a small country like Austria having nine states, each with their own parliament, but I suppose the Allies wanted to treat it like Germany after the war. Thanks for putting me right. Opinions are one thing, but I hate posting incorrect info as facts.
