He was before my time as a Braves fan so all I can go by is stats. He seems like the borderline type to me. As others have said Hall of Very Good. His peak didnt last long enough imo. I'm also stingier than baseball is about who belongs. It's become a joke now just throwing guys in like Baines. Murphy deserves it more than him. Same goes for a guy like Fred McGriff. McGriff isn't boarderline at all, he should have been in already. It's a joke people talk about Bonds and Sosa and juicers deserving to get in but a guy who put up great numbers without juicing doesn't get in. If he had juiced, he would have hit well over 600 and he'd be there with Bonds as people say "hey, everyone was doing it, he should get in." McGriff definitely deserves to be in. I think he is hurt by the fact that he played for so many teams so people dont associate him as a great player. |
