I wish people would chill out on the rivalry a bit and keep it friendly. Was never a comic book fan, so maybe I don't get the depth of the rivalry.
I worked in a bookstore for a brief period with a huge comics section and witnessed a lot of dialogue between fans of both. It was a lot more civil than the internet's reaction to the movies that come out these days. So many people seem to be totally prepared to bash something without seeing it. In the internet age, this actually can have an effect on how something performs. It's my feeling that stuff like this leaves us with more mediocre movies that are more concerned with playing it safe than taking a chance.
I like Batman, but am not particularly interested in Superman. Didn't know anything about Iron-man, but really liked what I saw. Watchmen and Guardians of the Galaxy were two entities I was completely unfamiliar with and found to be entertaining viewings. There seems to be different tones to Marvel and DC, but I've never seen any reason to discriminate as much as people do.
If we want good movies, I think it's a good idea to realize that the right hand washes the left. If they both succeed, the viewers end up winning.
