I was just about to reply to your previous pre-edit response. 
I thought I would be bored and ended up being pleasantly surprised. The gentle wry humor just appealed to me and it wasn't as superficial as I had anticipated.
I am not a huge fan of subtlety. Real life is for that. Movies is a way to remove myself from reality which is why I prefer exaggeration. That isn't to say their aren't subtle movies and performances I like as well, but they aren't movies I tend to love. A Streep film I do dislike and watched quite recently, is Falling In Love - 84'. Hadn't seen for years and was looking forward to it. It had no oomph and was just dreary.
