If I can only pick one, I will have to go with "Bob Le Flambeur" (1955) which was the first Melville I saw (and loved) and for its influence on the upcoming French New Wave and on the "caper" film where a mastermind puts together a team. If I could choose three - a holy trinity, say - I would have to list them as: Bob Le Flambeur (1955) L’Armée Des Ombres (1969) Le Samourai (1967) But then, I am also very fond of: Les Enfants Terribles (1950) Léon Morin, Prêtre (1961) Le Doulos (1962) Le Circle Rouge (1970) Le Circle Rouge (1970) is my fave actually.
