A lethal weapon of choice carried by the Yakuza a weapon featured in countless Japanese crime films set early in 20tth century is the Tantō . It is a short sword of varying blade types, commonly around 25cm long and 17mm wide the blade was housed in a wooden/bamboo sheath. Used in bloody encounters with rival gangs, the Tantō was also used in a Yakuza ritual often featured with gruesome cinematic detail, yubitsume, or “finger-shortening.”... when saying “sorry” to the family simply just doesn’t cut it...!
