But every time I try to watch or read something about Star Wars, it is a right-winger complaining about how SJWs have ruined Star Wars. Either that or that feminism is bad, or whites are being excluded...etc.
Then when something related to Star Wars like Solo or Galaxy’s Edge doesn’t do well, they celebrate it. To them Star Wars failing is a way to stick it to the libs.
Seriously, if you don’t like it, just talk about reasons for not liking it. Talk about screenplay, directing, acting...etc. Things that, you know, actually have to do with the quality of the film.
But enough crying about SJW and making a war against Star Wars as a war against liberals. We have real politics for you to complain about that. No need to insert it in Star Wars. You are only creating a toxic environment and dividing the fandom.
That said, I think that there is also room for criticism for the current Lucasfilm regime and supporters of the their films. First and foremost is the frequently used claim that all detractors of the recent films are misogynists, man-babies, toxic fans, the list goes on. I do not think it is unfair to call the messages of "female empowerment" to be heavy handed. Disney went as far as to create "The force is female" ad campaign. You say that criticisms should be limited to writing, directing, etc., but a political message being ham fisted into a story is a failure of those things.
Leaving the Star Wars franchise, you have things like the Batwoman trailer, Brie Larson bashing men who disliked A Wrinkle in Time, a Trump-like villain in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and all female reboots of past franchises. You can't push this constantly and not expect some backlash.
I also find it rather hypocritical for you to say "We have real politics for you to complain about that. No need to insert it in Star Wars. " when it wasn't the "right" who inserted politics into the series, it was the "left" who did so and the "right" is subsequently criticizing it(albeit with much more fervor than is appropriate). Would you have the same attitude if Episode IX had pro-life, pro-gun, or even MRA themes to the story?
To reiterate, I will agree that the amount of anti-sjw commentary on the recent films is excessive and overblown. But it is not entirely without merit. I am willing to admit that there is fault on "my side". Are you willing to do the same for yours?
