I think they could have bounced back from Apocalypse. The Wolverine series bounced back from Origins.
They could have wrote off a drop to Hulu or they could have even sold it to Netflix.
Yeah, it had other movies between Origins (which killed a whole side franchise) and Logan that had Wolverine in it. Apocalypse was the previous movie and Dark Phoenix starred all the actors from Apocalypse and not the ones from Days of Future Past. I don't think they understood that people went to see DoFP for the nostalgia of the previous trilogy's actors.
