It is something that has disturbed me enough that I have pretty much left the Catholic church. There is too much I don't like or agree with about that whole system and all the scandals that have been going on with nuns, and lots of other things.
That said, it was always done in the shadows because they knew what they were doing was wrong and that they were putting up a front of moral authority that wasn't genuine.
Aside from that, it seems all the priests I've ever met had a crappy attitude, as if they were entitled to be thought highly of.
I appreciate my mother and aunts always telling me that priests were just men like every other man, and not people to be put on a pedestal and worshiped like a lot of people seem to do.
I saw a documentary about this on one of those channels about how priests were so 'revered' by people that they could go to someone's home, go upstairs into a child's bedroom and molest him right there in his own house.
Now, I see priests as just regular men who work in the church and religion field. They are no better or no worse than anyone else unless they are committing crimes.
