It depends. I would say some movies of the 1930s are less dated than some movies of the 70s or 80s because either there is very little in the story that depends on the era--or the dated movie tries too hard to be trendy. I.e. Dracula AD 72. The first half of the movie is so ridiculously hip that it dated overnight. Especially that godawful musical number in the party scene.
Your average 1930s movie that focuses on the story is not going to be so dated because the clothing and furniture are secondary to the action and characters. If your story just tries to have people and situations that are true to natural reality then it won't date.
Some movies though-especially sci-fi movies, might avoid being dated because they are sparse in their predictions of the future-like Planet of the Apes or ALIEN. Somehow they don't seem dated in hairstyles and clothing.
Tip for filmmakers: if you want to do a sci-fi future story-go for a minimalist approach!
