am I the only one that doesn't mind when a movie is "dated"?

It all depends on the movie itself. For instance, if Lethal Weapon didn't have its awful vintage 80s soundtrack it'd probably be a pretty good movie.

When it comes to effects, though, I love old cheesy effects. I just watched The Dark Crystal for the first time and the opening and closing shots of that movie are so obviously miniatures, but they're beautiful and perfectly corny.
