I suppose the first primitive societies were that way. Whatever their own group does is okay. Whatever any other group does is wrong. The term "tribalism" is often used lately to describe it, but I dislike that usage. "Clanism" might serve as well.

Quite many people who call themselves "Christians" are that way, but thanks for your information anyway.
