Nah, GOTG just isn't ashamed of itself the way DC wishes it were. And yes, it has plenty in common with Star Wars, Dr Who, Star Trek, etc. In fact it was better than the Prequels.

And GOTG had a GOOD scene with Howard. DC can't even give us a good scene with Superman.
