The statement is rarely a pure one and even if it looks like it, once to taxk in your view outside of the original post, then you have created a context that doesn’t really exist.
Again, the statement does not match up to your issue with it unless there is more to the story which we wouldn’t know.
As it stands I’m under the impression you think Christians are obligated to help everyone even when that’s impossible which seems irrational.
That is the Gospel message.
