we discovered

it's far easier
to gloss over a myriad
of modern day
torture practices
in order to facilitate
the rising
market rates
we are indeed all after
someone
substituted children's
laughter
with a bombs are bursting
all around disaster
we now call our glorious
standard of living
because nothing says
the gift that keeps on giving
quite like
tens of thousands of multi-layered warheads
just dying
to go on living.
